BMX World Cup 2024

The Challenge

Cycling New Zealand, the official national federation for all cycling-related activities, collaborated with BMX New Zealand and BMX Rotorua to organise the first round of the UCI BMX World Cup 2024. This international event took place over two days in Rotorua, February 10th and 11th, 2024, and could accommodate up to 1,500 spectators daily. Cycling New Zealand approached Dubzz to promote the BMX World Cup through a robust online advertising campaign. The aim was to increase event awareness and boost ticket sales for both days, focusing primarily on the local market.

Our Approach

Dubzz first recommended setting up Google Analytics and conversion tracking to measure the campaign results. We then launched Meta Ads across Facebook and Instagram, and Google Ad campaigns across Google Search, Display, and YouTube Ads to raise awareness of the world-class event in Rotorua and promote ticket sales to spectators in Rotorua and the surrounding areas. Additionally, we applied custom metadata to all the main website pages helping to improve organic search rankings throughout the campaign. BMX World Cup 2024 View Website Here

The Results

During the three-month campaign from November 2023 to February 2024, the website received 23,012 visits, resulting in 5,813 clicks directing users to the Flicket event ticketing page. The social media ads reached 130,602 users, while Google Ads reached 101,481 users in refined target audiences. The event achieved 1,381 through the gates on Saturday and 1,432 through on Sunday. This success was achieved through awareness campaigns, as well as remarketing to past website visitors and users who have previously engaged with event content on social media.
