The Challenge

The Rotorua Lakeside Concert is a free event that brings together the local community and attracts surrounding visitors to enjoy a one-night outdoor concert featuring the best of Māori, classical, and contemporary New Zealand music. Our team has been fortunate to work with the Rotorua Lakeside Concert Charitable Trust for many years, supporting the annual event’s online marketing campaign.

The Lakeside Trust approached Dubzz to promote the concert again in 2024, aiming to build awareness and increase concert attendance. We also were asked to produce a tribute video for the concert to honour those who have passed away in the previous 12 months for Rotorua locals.

Our Approach

Dubzz recommended utilising Google Display Ads and Social Media advertising campaigns to increase brand awareness and circulate information on the free event.

We also recommended starting fresh with a newly updated website that was simple for the Lakeside team to update and streamline content, paired with a modernised design to reflect their new branding created by David Jones and clearer calls to action.

Our team also reflected on our previous experience creating the tribute video and actioned a new form submission system to help streamline entry management.

The Results

A dynamic new website was created with a strong focus on ease of access for the Lakeside team to update not only wording and imagery but also themes, colours, and logos for each annual concert. The new website is easy to use, looks great on mobile devices, and provides the perfect platform for sharing all there is to know about the annual Rotorua Lakeside Concert.

The online marketing campaign for the 2024 concert was executed from mid-December to early February, with initial setup, branding updates, and paid promotions occurring over the two months. During this time, there were over 17,552 website visits to the new Lakeside website, with a 60% engagement rate.

The Google Display Ads campaign facilitated access to the concert’s target audience, with over 2 million viewable impressions reported, enhancing awareness of the Rotorua event across the Google network through strategic ad placements.

Our team ran a social media traffic campaign, which helped reach over 82,000 online users in the event’s target audience and generated 5,200 link clicks, leading to the new website.
