Wood Masters

The Challenge

Wood Masters is one of New Zealand’s leading manufacturers of wood products – ranging from carved Māori souvenirs and 21st keys to wooden signs, custom furniture creation, repairs and restoration, and unique custom projects.

When Wood Masters approached Dubzz, they had a website that had become out of date. They wanted a new website that better reflected their business and had an easy-to-use platform for their wholesale customers to browse the catalogue and place orders.

After we designed and developed their new website, Covid hit abruptly and required a change in their business strategy. Their business now received fewer wholesale orders from souvenir shops and had greater capacity for custom woodwork and restoration. This necessitated a change of website design to ensure the skills and services available were easily understood by potential customers.

Our Approach

We worked with Wood Masters to design and develop a custom website that fulfilled their changing needs as a business.
Initially, we developed a site that sought to make wholesale ordering an easy process for both the customer and the Wood Masters team. This wholesale focussed site was easy to navigate, easy to read, and easy to order from, while also supporting their existing stock management system.

Shortly after we developed their new site, Covid struck, and their business focus had to change as wholesale orders decreased due to dwindling tourism numbers. To help Wood Masters adjust their marketing to the new environment, we ran an in-depth strategy programme with them to develop a new online marketing plan.

Following the development of the new marketing strategy, we redesigned the front pages of the website to help to generate custom furniture, restoration and repair enquiries. Our redesign focused on showcasing previous work and key selling points, while being easy to use and visually appealing. As the site had been built using WordPress, we were able to be flexible and adaptable with the site design and functionality to meet the new requirements.

The Results

The result is a website that clearly communicates the key services of the business, drives conversions with calls-to-action throughout the site, and is easy for both retail and wholesale customers to use.

Within the first few months of going live, the Wood Masters website received hundreds of visits from highly engaged customers who viewed more than five pages per visit on average. The Wood Masters team are happy with the number of enquiries for custom woodworking they are receiving through the website, as they continue to receive wholesale orders through the website simultaneously.
