Learn about all the latest upgrades to Google My Business.
If you were not already aware there is a Google Upgrade in progress.
The much awaited upgrade for Google Places and Google+ is finally here – Google My Business.
The new platform creates a one-stop shop for small business owners to increase and manage their visibility within Google search, Google Maps, and Google+ all in one place.
Google Places:
Google Maps has changed the way we live and navigate our way through the world, there is now no excuse to ever be lost. Google Places allows businesses to mark their physical location within Google Maps for all their customers to easily find online.
Google+:
Developed as a social media network to rival the likes of Facebook, Google+ was a bit of a flop. While it didn’t take off socially, it works great commercially. Google+ allows businesses to display all their need to know information all in one place, that is easily found in Google Maps and the almighty Google search results.
Google have had a single login, synchronising all their Google products for some time but the separate dashboards and navigation between all of their products, especially Google Places and Google+ has always been a confusing nightmare for everyone involved.
Now Google have finally joined the two, in a way that makes sense to the average person here is what you have to look forward to;
- An updated interface that makes editing your information easier
- An integrated ‘Reviews’ feature to read and respond to customer feedback
- Listing updates that show the status of your business information on Maps
- Insights to help you track your business’s performance on Google
- Google+ page features like sharing posts, starting Hangouts, and creating events
When accessing the new dashboard for the first time, Google may ask you to review and possibly change the information for your business to be in line with their new requirements. It is simple to do, just remember to click ‘Done Editing’ once you’re finished, so that Google continues to display all your up-to-date business information.
Don’t be too worried about all the changes, if you’ve previously managed your business information through Google+ or the latest Places for Business dashboard, much of Google My Business will look familiar to you.
