Is your Digital Marketing Ready for the Borders to Reopen?

By Danielle Duff | Thursday, April 7, 2022

Our tips to help make sure your digital marketing is ready for international visitors.

For the first time since early 2020, our borders are opening back up again to international tourists. From April 12 2022, Australian citizens and permanent residents can enter New Zealand, and from May 1, vaccinated travellers can enter New Zealand from over 70 visa-waiver countries and territories.

After more than two years, is your digital marketing ready for the reopening? We have compiled this list to help you prepare your business for this next chapter.

Know your audience demographics and behavior

How many of your customers previously came from overseas? Which countries did they come from? How did you communicate with them? This information will be key in deciding the next step to take. Make sure your website is up to date, check terms and conditions, pricing, and website copy to ensure your international customers feel valued and at ease.

Explore new advertising campaigns

Start off by expanding your online advertising to include relevant groups of people who live in the countries you want to target. Explore the need for country-specific campaigns or offers, and revise your advertising budgets to ensure you stand out against your competition. If you are considering expanding your advertising, get in touch with the Dubzz team. We can discuss your options and give you personalised advice.

Check your online presence

Do some Google searches to see how you are appearing against your competitors. Ideally your website should be ranking well for your desired search terms and keywords. Take the time to also check that your Google listing, directory listings, and social media channels are all up to date. International visitors are already looking ahead and planning their trip to New Zealand, so we recommend getting a head start.

Tell your story

What sets you apart from your competitors? Entice new or returning international customers (as well as Kiwis!) with exciting social media content, blogs, photos, and videos.  Show them why your business is great and how you can provide a unique service or experience that they can’t find anywhere else.

Send an e-newsletter

If you have a database of previous customers, now is the time to use it. Send out an e-newsletter letting them know that the borders are reopening and you look forward to seeing them. This is a great opportunity for you to let people know what’s changed since their last visit, what health and safety measures are in place, and spark excitement. If you have a database but aren’t sure how to use it, contact our team. We can help with that.

It can be difficult to know where to start if you want to improve your digital marketing for the border reopening, so we hope this has been helpful. If you want more personalised advice for your business, please get in touch. We offer customised training sessions, marketing strategy development, and of course, we can take care of all your marketing needs.
