The Challenge

Located in Rotorua, Waimangu Volcanic Valley is the world’s youngest geothermal park. Visitors to the valley can enjoy unique geothermal walking trails, and boat cruises on the historic Lake Rotomahana.

Waimangu first approached Dubzz in 2018, immediately following a recent rebrand. They wanted to utilise the online space to increase brand awareness, push online bookings and grow visitor numbers.

Our Approach

Dubzz recommended using Social Media, Google Ads and Search Engine Optimisation to achieve Waimangu’s business goals. We implemented a digital marketing strategy using these tools which focused on reaching their target audiences with relevant messaging, growing public perception, increasing website traffic and driving action.

More recently, Waimangu has shown some impressive innovation as a tourism business in the post COVID-19 era. Likewise, we have also had to adapt our online marketing strategy to support their new business goals. Waimangu Volcanic Valley

The Results

2018 – In our first year working with Waimangu, Google traffic increased by 47% compared to the previous year.
(August 18 – July 19 vs August 17 – July 18)

2019 – In our second year, online revenue increased by 180% compared to the year before.
(March 19 – February 20 vs March 18 – February 19)

2020 – In the months following New Zealand’s COVID-19 lockdown, online revenue remained equal to the year before, despite the lack of international visitors.
(July 20 – December 20 vs July 19 – December 2019)
