Do you know how to take engaging video content for social media? Read our top tips!

By the end of 2022, videos are expected to make up more than 82% of all social media content. As a consumer yourself, you might have noticed that video content is more popular than ever on social media. Video platforms such as YouTube and TikTok continue to grow, and Facebook and Instagram are making strides to become more video-friendly platforms as well.

Although not every business will benefit from participating in the latest TikTok trend, all businesses should be thinking of ways to incorporate more video into their social media presence. Here are our top tips:

Keep your audience in mind

The first step to creating great video content for your social media is to think about who you are making it for. How old is your target audience? What do they want to see from you? How can you offer them value or entertainment through a video? Keeping these questions in mind will prevent you from wasting valuable time creating a great video that will reap few benefits for your business, because it isn’t what your audience wants to see.

Get creative and think about your key selling points

Now that you know who your video is for, what type of video should you shoot? There are countless options for you to choose from. Why not take a “how-to” video showing people how to use your product? Or film a behind-the-scenes sneak peek of the product or service you are about to release? You could even film a fun TikTok challenge with some of your team members! Get creative and have fun, but be sure to align your videos with your key selling points. For example, if you are a holiday park and your premium facilities are one of your key selling points, why not take a quick video tour of the park and show them off?

Keep it short and sweet

No matter what type of video you want to shoot, make sure to keep it as short as possible. Anywhere from 10 to 40 seconds is a good guideline to stick to for short form video content. Most people scrolling through social media are short on time and want to be entertained or informed as quickly as possible. A tip for success is to put the key information at the beginning of your video so that you can ensure your audience has received the key message, even if they decide to keep scrolling.

Focus on high-quality video

Focus on creating high-quality video content for social media. This doesn’t mean that you have to buy an expensive camera, many smartphones have great cameras too. Use a newer smartphone or camera to take your video, use natural light, and prop the camera up against an object or use a tripod so your video is steady. Once you have your raw footage, use minimal filters to keep the video looking clear and professional. If however you are creating video content to be used in paid advertising or on your website, we recommend hiring an experienced videographer. High-quality video ads perform better and are more likely to provide you with a profitable return on your investment.

We hope that this has given you some valuable tips on creating good video content for social media. If you have some video content but don’t have the time to post it, get in touch. We can manage your social media for you and take care of all your other digital marketing needs.
